Huge list: There is a huge list of possibilities as an explanation for a red eye. In many cases it is viral conjunctivitis ("pink eye"), but there are usually symptoms, but not necessarily. There are many serous conditions as well. Best to have a professional look at the eye, like a comprehensive ophthalmologist (an eyemd).

Could be dry: It's less likely allergy or infection due to lack of symptom except the redness and dryness. You may have dry eye on that side. Just be careful with hand and eye hygiene if in case is a viral conjuctivitis that way you will not spread to other eye or others. Use artificial tears, heat pack and baby shampoo wash the lashes. If after couple of days it does not go away then see an eye doc.
