Good reason: You have a good reason to be nervous and if you love your friend, get him a mental health evaluation sooner than later. See if you can find out who his primary care doctor is and get him a appointment, this is a great place to start. If you need the assistance of others to get him there do so.

Understand: If your friend previously (long-past) attempted suicide but is now better - risk is likely lower. However, if your friend is still troubled that is worrisome. Let your friend know s/he can call the National suicide hotlines 24/7 at 1-800-suicide (1-800-784-2433) or 1-800-273 – talk (1-800-273-8255) for support.
