Herpes simplex: There are risks, but would be very surprised if your bf does not already have the virus. Valacyclovir may reduce the frequency of your overt outbreaks, but it will not cure herpes infection. The condoms are protective, but skin to skin contact with your genital tissue is still likely to occur and if he shaves there are minor, even if invisible, breaks in the skin. Be careful.
