See your doctor: It is not clear what the symptoms are but clearly he needs to be examined. I have not heard of that as a side effect of zantac (ranitidine) but regardless, he needs to see his primary care doctor.

Musculoskeletal?: Intermittent anterior chest wall pain in an early thirties male suggests pectoralis muscle strain, perhaps from excess physical activity. His age would seem to discount angina pectoris, but this is always of concern in males, especially if there is history of elevated cholesterol. A doctor visit seems to be in order. If the pain becomes constant, then urgent evaluation is necessary.
