A member asked:

Does small amounts of second hand smoke cause visceral fat accumulation? i know that smoking itself increases visceral fat, but what of this variety?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not that i know of: Am unaware of any evidence that associates second hand smoke with anything like that, particularly if in small amounts. Do your best to keep your home, or at least your living space, smoke free, and ask smokers not to do so in your vicinity, but don't think it is related. Visceral fat, for the most part, is influenced by diet and exercise, and to heredity to some extent.
