You still smoke: Instead of smoking your own cigarettes, you now smoke other people's smoke and burning chemicals. Second hand smoke is just as dangerous as as smoking. The only sensible way dealing with it is avoidance. If you can't, at least limit your stay to the shortest time. Also, try to meet people where there is no smoke, or outside. An air purifier may help some in a closed space, or open windows.
