i have a sharp pain at my ribs area under my right chest when i breathe.. i have not experience such pains before. could it be a muscle sprain?

Several: Yes, muscles are there and pulls and strains can occur. But full story is needed. Fever, chills, cough, smoking may lead toward a viral or other pneumonia and pleurisy. Cancer, surgery, obesity, sedentary would lead toward clots and pulmonary infarct. Gather your facts and see your pcp.

Have it evaluated.: A person with chest pain needs to be evaluated and treated appropriately. Multiple possible causes may be: heart attack, esophageal reflux, anxiety, musculoskeletal, pneumonia, pulmonary embolus, and aortic dissection. Have it evaluated right away to prevent potential serious complications.
