Eliminate the cause: You must eliminate the reason for bone loss prior to grafting so that you don't have to graft again. Graft must be stabilized, full coverage by tissue, and keep from getting infected during healing (28 days). Area of graft should be immobilized to avoid micromovement. Finally, using good technique on grafting procedure to insure good result.
