Depends: PTSD is tricky whether it is related to military service or traumas occurring outside of service related activity. You have to apply. Document your trauma and, more importantly, the damage/dysfunction that followed it. Getting an attorney that specializes in disability law is essential.

Yes: Yes, PTSD can be severe enough to warrant being ruled disabled based on severity of symptoms. Being ruled disabled is a legal procedure. Call a disability lawyer to find out exactly what the procedure is, what kind of psychological evaluations are needed and or psychiatric evaluations as well. If the PTSD is from military service, call the local VA to find out what procedures must be followed.

PTSD & disability: PTSD will sometimes result in disability rating but I so much urge you to focus on getting effective treatment. Letting PTSD go unresolved tends to create a failure experience leading to more problems. It is ok to get financial assistance but also look for a Psychologist expert in treating trauma-I most recommend EMDR Therapy. And for nightmares-Planned Dream Intervention training here.
