Not really: A cardioversion without any sedation can be quite a horrifying experience. They apply pads to your chest and run current through it to put the heart in a normal rhythm. The chest muscle will tighten and it can be quite painful. I guess anything is possible if you are really determined; during the civil war they used to cut a leg off at the hip without anesthesia; but that's not what we do today...
