Cognitive behavioral therapy not working, what to do?

CBT: Speaking as a psychoanalyst, CBT treatment effects are not as long lasting as psychodynamic/psychoanalytic treatment. When a patient wonders where the distortions in their thought processes began, that is when CBT ends and psychodynamic therapy or psychoanalysis begins, and gets to the root of the problem instead of focusing on the symptom.

CBT: Depending on the diagnosis for which cognitive behavioral therapy is being employed, simultaneous treatment with medication may be beneficial. It may be helpful to discuss with your treating provider or discuss with your primary physician.
