Hormonal contraception can cause this change, but also pregnancy, (implantation bleeding) and ovarian cysts. See a provider if it continues or if you are concerned.

If you are 4-5 days past the date of your expected period, you may do a home pregnancy test. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions in the kit carefully.
