Not in my practice: Gabapentin has not been shown to be as effective as standard medication treatments for anxiety in my experience. I have found that higher doses of ssri's work well, some antipsychotics like abilify, (aripiprazole) and benzodiazepines work very well.

Not for anxiety: Gabapentin, a relatively new anticonvulsant differs from most other anticonvulsants because it has minimal drug interaction potential and is not metabolized in humans. It is widely used for both paroxysmal and continuous neuropathic pain conditions, but not for the anxiety. Rec.: a psychiatrist consultation for further investigation and medication adjustment.
