May want to see doc: If you're having symptoms for more than a week, depending on their severity it may be worthwhile to see your doctor to get examined.

Some are OTC meds: Infections of the tonsils, throat, neck lymph nodes, or sinuses, can cause sore throat, & neck / head ache. For some people, ear pressure or ear pain can also cause sore throat, & neck / head ache. A primary care doctor can check to see if it is a routine problem such as strep throat, which needs antibiotics. For pain, there is tylenol, (acetaminophen) motrin, sore-throat-lozenges, and other otc cold medicines.

Several things: Not mentioned if the symptoms have all been there about the same length of time.It is possible that they are not related and could be separate events. Also it's possible that they are related. The swollen lymph node can be related to any infection and therefore could be related to either the sore throat, the "infected" canine or both.Have tooth checked out and treatedfirst to see if it is the source.

What can I take for a sore thoat?

Pharyngitis: The cause of your sore throat would predict the treatment. You could try otc cholaroseptic spray but i would not want to mask an infection, post nasal drip or reflux disease. It may be best to see your physician on this one if it persists.

Sore Throat: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day. Gargle several times a day.
