I got a carbuncle when i was in asia 2 years ago. i still have the scar. what's the likelihood of getting another one? can i still donate blood?

See answer: A carbuncle occurs when a group of hair follicles next to each other become infected - a cluster of boils. In most people, it tends to be a one time occurrence, but in select minority, it's a chronic, recurring problem. Risk factors for recurrence: obesity; poor hygiene, health and immune system; chronic skin irritation, carrier of staph on your skin; diabetes. And yes, you can still donate blood.

Low ; absolutely!: Some people seem predisposed to develop skin / soft tissue infections, and others never do. If that is your first significant infection, than a repeat is unlikely. As to donating blood, absolutely! we desperately need donors this time of year, particularly as it has been a lot colder (and snowier / icier) than usual in most locales. Contact the red cross / your local donor center for a time!
