It is not OCD: The questions too broad to be answered in the space provided. I have seen several dramatic cases including one in a chicago hospital where the woman was hospitalized for six months following a 12 month hospitalization in greece with the attending's called in from great britain and germany. As a psychiatric intern rotating through internal medicine, it was very clear to me that this was a case of munchhausen syndrome and with the help of the chicago crime lab and cameras in the intensive care unit we were able to confront the woman regarding the nature of her illness. It did not help that she only spoke greek.Due to the nature of the case no greek speaking psychiatrist in chicago would evaluate her. She was sent home via new york with her father who had been absent most of her life because he was a sailor and fishermen. She was raised on a greek island. After landing in new york, she convinced her father to fly her to minneapolis and take her to the mayo clinic. Two weeks later i received a call from the mayo clinic regarding the diagnosis that have been rendered in chicago. This was a classic case of borderline personality disorder and the absence of depression or anxiety. In terms of category, this is not an ocd related disorder. It is listed under the factitious disorders dsm-iv andthere had been talk about it possibly being placed under the somatoform disorders in dsm-v, but i don't believe that has happened.Google the term munchhausen syndrome and you can read some outstanding reviews on wikipedia as well as the mayo clinic website. Best wishes.
