I'm switching from 5mg of lexapro (escitalopram) to 20mg of prozac. dr told me to take both the lexapro (escitalopram) and prozac together for a week, then stop the lexapro (escitalopram). is it safe to take both together for a week?

It should be O.K.: You should be O.K. With taking both meds together for one week, unless you are sensitive to higher doses of meds. Usually, people who are slow metabolizers of drugs build up high drug levels in their body ; could experience side effects like rapid pulse, labile blood pressure, sweating, tremors ; diarrhea. If you have ocd, then higher doses of these ssri meds may be indicated.
