A member asked:

Have l5-s1 disc bulge. i suspect atrophy and weakness of calf. would there be associated calf pain as well or other symptom i can use to confirm?

No pain necessary: Measure your calves at the widest point to confirm atrophy. See a neurosurgeon for an evaluation for surgery. Get some recommendations from other people in your geographic location.

Have had it myself! : No time 4 conservative treatment. #1= leg pain+/- back pain, #2= numbness+/-#1.#3= muscle weakness and atrophy of the calf muscles. Don't waste time, c ur spine surgeon ; have the disk removed. @#3, u may have permanent weakness. No time for conservative treatment. Shake a leg, get it done!
