Halitosis: Is a term for bad breath. It is common condition among humans and is usually caused by an accumulation of bacteria in the mouth as a result of periodontal disease. Good dental hygiene can improve bad breath and is usually considered the preventive treatment. Rec.: see a dentist or oral pathalogist for further investigation.

Challenging but...: Your condition is called phantosmia. I advise being evaluated by a neurologist. I am unaware of research on how to treat this but some have success with Gabapentin ; other meds for epilepsy- see http://chemse.Oxfordjournals.Org/content/27/7/611.Full when western medicine does not have answers people often find relief with homeopathy and chinese medicine/acupuncture, so those are worth exploring.
