Yes: Any infection can harm a fetus, and sepsis (an infection that has become more severe) can even lead to fetal death (spontaneous abortion) or injury. While pregnancy does make you more vulnerable to infection, sepsis is still rare in pregnancy. If you have an infection, talk to your OB (or family doctor) about it quickly.
