Progesterone: The cause of a prolonged period - lasting a month as yours has done - is usually lack of ovulation which causes lack of progesterone. Progesterone stabilizes the lining of the uterus and signals when the period is to come. Treatment is usually either bcp or progesterone. Either will need to be prescribed by your doctor.
