A member asked:

Considering the use of anafrinal...are tricyclics safe in cardiac patients particular anafrinal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Close monitoring: Anafranil (clomipramine) is tricky in heart patients - it can prolong the qt interval, induce serious arrhythmias, increase the risk of heart attack and sudden death. Let your doctor guide you. If you have a normal ekg and are stable, it can be used safely. Like everything in medicine (and life), it's a judgement call and the risks and benefits should be weighed.
