What do doctors look for when they do a rectovaginal exam?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Back of the pelvis: A rectal exam checks the rectum and the back of the uterus and the ovaries. It is a normal part of the pelvic exam. It can detect a cancer just inside the rectum and masses deep in the pelvis which might be otherwise missed with just a vaginal exam.
