What is the chances that my child's infection will lead to septicemia?

Depends: It depends on the infection location, bacterium (or virus or fungus), the age of your child, and how healthy your child's immune system is. In general, for most children and most infections, it is highly unlikely that they will develop sepsis.

Fever in kids: Most children get several viral infections a year which result in high fevers. Luckily children with normal immune systems will take care of the infection with time. There is a lot of overlap with the symptoms of these viral infections and septicemia. It is exceedingly rare for normal children to develop septicemia - less than 1%.
