Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'.

Steroid for acne: Clobetasol is a high potency coritcosteroid that helps reduce redness and inflammation. However, if used for extended periods would worsen acne. See a dermatologist for treatment options including topical antibacterials, retinoid cream, etc.

Terrible choice: This is a glucocorticoid. It will suppress inflammation just enough to allow the bacteria to overgrow and come back with a vengeance. This class of medications actually causes acne as a side-effect. Please. You're a responsible adult. If you're going to use a medication that should be used only on a physician's orders, get with a competent physician for acne treatment.
