Viral conjunctivitis: Its fairly common to for cold viruses to travel up the tear duct from the nose and cause a red eye. If there is no crusting and it came with a cold no antibiotic is usually needed. It will likely clear on its own. If it gets very angry looking or causing a lot of discomfort have your pediatrician or family doctor take a look. Colds last 10 to 14 days.
