Leg Pain: A negative d-dimer x2 is pretty good evidence that there is no clot. However, the gold standard for making a DX. of DVT from the groin to the ankle is a venous duplex examination. It seems as if your pain is not due to a DVT but a venous duplex would be the definitive test.
