A member asked:

Can being overweight, especially on the lower half of your body, cause sitting in a certain chair to be uncomfortable?

Sitting with weight: Hi nanbeam, yes having some excess weight in the lower part of your body can cause some discomfort because of the sedentary nature of being in a chair for long periods of time. If possible, simply by getting up and walking around a little every 90 minutes or so: go to the water cooler, talk to colleague, walk outside for some fresh air, can make a difference in your mood, day, and burn calories.

Yes: If you have excessive weight in the legs, abdomen or gluteal region, you may need a chair with more support. It can cause pressure and pain if the chair is not high enough or not low enough so your feet are comfortably on the floor.
