A member asked:

Why when an authority figure tells me what to do, do i feel angered? especially if they yell or talk down to me, it makes me want to rebel. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Childhood Trauma: Often children who grow up in homes with a parent(s) who are very rigid, punitive, controlling, and restrict verbalizing feelings/ asking questions (authoritarian parent) will either engage in rebellious behavior as adolescents/young adults. Growing up in this type of home restricts a child's ability to express his/her frustration or explain his/her behavior out of fear of negative consequence.
