Bright red: Hemorrhoidal bleeding is usually bright red and without clots. That being said, all bright red bleeding from the rectum is not necessarily due to hemorrhoids. All bleeding should be evaluated and diagnosed and treated by a physician.

Bright red bleed: Initial stages, painless, mass less bright bleeding, soils the tissue with blood , later stages associated with pain and inability to push them back into rectum ( non reducible ). Any rectal bleed first consideration is cancer must see your physician.
