Both types : are excellent cooling and soothing rubbing fluids. Isopropyl alcohol is a different chemical. It is poison to drink. Rubbing ethyl alcohol is the same kind that is in liquor, but it has been "denatured " by adding chemicals that make it undrinkable. Filtering or "straining " denatured alcohol does NOT make it safe to drink.
