Inflammation/bone: Bursitis describes inflammation of a bursae which is a "cushion" of soft tissue adjacent to a bone. There are several bursas in the body including the elbow, hip, heel, etc. Bunion describes a bony bump typically at the 1st metatarophalangeal joint (near the big toe).
