Hurt: Generally trauma to the tooth from cementation can last 4-6 wks getting better week by week. If you feel your bite is not quite right the tooth will be sensitive until the bite is adjusted. If the sensitivity to hot/cold lasts more than 10 sec or the tooth spontaneously starts to hurt see your dentist to have the tooth evaluated for a nerve problem. Hope this helps.

Crown pain: There may be some sensitivity after a new crown is cemented for a short while and you should notice that this is getting less sensitive over time. If you have pain with biting, your bite feels off, severe pain, swelling around the tooth, pain that lingers, these are things that you should see your dentist about

Surgery: The tooth had microsurgery to repair chronic damage. It may take 4-6 weeks for discomfort to subside. If it is't getting a little better each day return to your Dentist who will evaluate for restoration being microscopically "high," fractured root, failed root canal treatment, improperly sealed restoration, parafunctional habits, and other causes.
