Cystic fibrosis...: Cystic fibrosis patients can have both chronic pancreatitis and pneumothorax. Otherwise, there is not likely to be an association.

Workup tests: I agree that you should be screened for CF and also for alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. In addition, I would suggest avoiding all smoke exposure.
