A member asked:

Can the e coli breakout in lettuce have anything to do with pesticides?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: E coli are bacteria normally present in feces and fecal contamination of lettuce is the cause of this infection. Pesticide ingestion is not good for you, but it does not cause e coli infection.
