All over!: The left ventricle pumps blood into the aorta. The first branches off the aorta are the left main and right coronary arteries. These arteries have branches that distribute blood all over the heart. These smaller arteries have even smaller branches called arterioles. The arterioles branch into microscopic capillaries. This network is so thorough that every heart muscle cell is close to a capillary.
