Chronic vs Acute: An acute problem occurs very quickly.. A chronic problem takes time to take its toll. Periodontal problems take years to manifest themselves. It gives you plenty of time to correct the problem. No one wakes up and says i was fine yesterday, today i'm loosing my teeth.

By the definition: A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more and cannot be prevented by vaccines or cured by medication, considered chronic disease. The periodontal disease is not an exception.
