Risks of surgery: Donating a portion of your liver is much more involved and risky than donating a kidney. The operation is longer and more complex, the recovery takes more time and the risks of complications are significantly greater. Many people do donate successfully with a full recovery and no long term consequences, but you should be fully aware of the risks before donating. Consult with your physician.
