If by getting rid..: ...You mean to cure, usually no. There are some rare situations in which there are only one or 2 metastases that can be treated successfully with surgery followed by chemo and even more rare cases in which chemo alone could make it happen (i've seen it) but as a rule, stage IV is incurable. That does not mean it cannot be treated, but treatment will not cure it.
