They could: If you have a large degree of tibial/genu varum, that can cause excessive pronation in the foot, which can cause pain and fatigue. Look into pronation control athletic shoes for cross country. You may want to visit with a podiatrist to see if custom foot supports (orthoses) may be of benefit.
