Nerve root block: I believe you are talking about a c-arm or fluoroscopy x ray and a nerve root block? This should have minimal pain involved. It will be a quick injection after the team takes a couple xrays to see where exactly they are going based on bony landmarks. Once there, they will place the needle, check a couple more images and then give you an injection of meds. You should have pain relief afterwards.
