It can be. : Palliative care is treatment of symptoms. They can range from shortness of breath, nausea, pain, etc. The preferred method is via oral (by mouth)., unless the symptoms are severe, or patient is in a crisis at which point subcutaneous or Intravenous IV is an option if oral fails or is not possible.

Palliative care: Palliative care is basically supportive care and end-of-life care. It may involve several modalities and even IV medications may be used to control pain or infection. Most of the times, multi-modal therapy is recommended to cover all aspects of the patient's life including psychological. Hope that answers your question.
