Excise pitting scars: Laser resurfacing (or for that matter, dermabrasion resurfacing) can improve the overall quality of skin, and even acneiform-scarred skin. Of course, darker pigmented skin is potentially more difficult to treat via resurfacing techniques due to possible hyperpigmentation. Nonetheless, ice pick scars or deep pitting scars, are often best excised first; then resurfacing treatments can follow.
