A member asked:

Is it true that a pimple is considered an open wound?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: A pimple is a swelling and sometimes infection of a skin gland. It is surrounded in the skin by a barrier layer of cells which prevents any spread of the contents except to the outside of the skin. A pimple would have to be traumatized to allow the spread of infection within the pimple. So it is not an open wound.
