A member asked:

For how long is the recovery time after a mastectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About 3-6 weeks: Recovery from surgery varies in different patients. Mastectomy may or may not be accompanied with removal of lymph noded from the axilla (armpit). Also it may be done in association with or without breast reconstruction. These issues as well as other issues such as need for chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment all affect the recovery. So the recovery period varies.
