Depends on cause and: Severity. Physical therapy and injections can help early. Pain is usually the first symptoms, and leaning over (flexing the lumbar spine) will make it feel slightly better. If it is progressing, you can start to pinch nerves that go to you your legs (assuming lumbar stenosis). It usually does not progress to something as severe as paralysis unless it is from a bad cause like vertebral instability.
