Please explain if it is possible to save an eye from a big trauma if the optic nerve is intact?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sometimes: The optic nerve carries the visual impulse from the eye to the brain. It will function if it is not mechancially disrupted and the signal generating compenents of the eye are intact. All the components must be in good shape - not just the nerve.
