A member asked:

What is it that makes irises the colour they are?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Surface pigment: All irises except in albinos have a back layer of dark pigment. The front surface has the variant colors that we see as blue, green, hazel and brown. These are inherited colors and are part of our natural beauty.
