Please advise what is known about herpes vaccines/cures currently being tested/developed?

Dr. Jay Park answered

See below: To date, there is no effective vaccine against the infection with herpes virus-1 or herpes virus-2 (genital herpes). Several therapeutic vaccine trials have been conducted to "boost" natural immunity in persons with prior HSV-2 infection in an effort to decrease recurrences without consistent beneficial results.
