For how long after a vitrectomy does it take for the gas bubble to absorb and the vision to return?

Depends: That depends on the type of gas used. Usually it will take 1-4 weeks for the bubble to dissolve enough to allow sight to return centrally.

Reabsorption of gas: from the vitreous cavity varies per individual and depending on the type of gas used. Air can take 1-2 days while gas can take from 2-4 weeks.
